Historical Information
Grace Core’s worked to gather genealogical data on her family’s history, and predominantly researched her family in the first twenty years of the twentieth century. It appears that her and her husband, John Core were farmers, but that Grace had a penchant for genealogy. Included in her research are the financial papers of Fauntley Muse and a record of his election to the House of Representatives for Pennsylvania in the eighth district. She additionally collected financial papers related to the Core family. Correspondence from Ebenezer Muse, the son of Fauntley, are included. Ebenezer Muse started at Hanover college in 1854. A number of family members served in the Revolutionary War such as William Taylor; and served as a private in captain Bateman Floyd’s company in the 2nd Regiment. John Beatty Sr. served as a lieutenant of a militia in Cumberland County, PA. Frederick Ware was a private in the American Revolution. A number of family members also served in the War of 1812. Fauntley Muse was a lieutenant in Captain Robert Wilson’s Second Battalion; additionally, he served as a corporal in Lieutenant Thomas Warren’s company of Light Dragoons, First Regiment, Muse Family Papers
